On July 9, 2019 the Xerox company reported that the Smolensk Polygraphic Plant (SPP) started the line of an inkjet printing based on the role Xerox Impika Evolution CFM . It reduced costs for limited production and allowed plant to take orders for digital printing from third-party printing houses.

According to the company, the Xerox Impika Evolution installation significantly reduced print cost in comparison with tonerny the CFM which the enterprise used earlier. Before start of the updated machine to plant less than 300 copies were profitable to print on the digital equipment only circulations. In turn, Xerox Impika Evolution exceeds offset on cost efficiency on circulations up to 1000, and in certain cases — to 3000 copies that allows joint project company to increase a share of digital printing. In the next two years the enterprise is going to bring it to 2% of total production.

The market of book polygraphy is reduced many years in a row. At the same time every year circulations decrease, and the competition becomes more tough. In these conditions without production optimization the profit of our enterprise could decrease significantly. Therefore four years ago we opened the digital direction better to compete in a segment of small circulations. The Xerox Impika Evolution installation became the next step on the way of evolving of this direction.

The plant is going to use Xerox Impika Evolution not only for own needs, but also for processing orders from other players of the polygraphic market. Thanks to it small printing houses which cannot purchase the expensive equipment will have an opportunity to offer the clients competitive book products in a segment of small circulations.
