2019: Development of the mechanism of preparation of transport data for third-party Internet services and applications

On July 31, 2019 the company "And + About Transproekt" announced development of the mechanism of preparation transport data for third-party Internet services and applications. The developed tools will allow Russian operators of transport services to process data quicker and more effectively, thus increasing the accuracy and convenience to users of services.

As of July, 2019 "And + About Transproekt" already collects, processes and regularly updates data on St. Petersburg, the Leningrad Region, the Republic of Karelia, the Pskov and Novgorod regions. For work with data the company uses a set of utilities developed by "The northwest cartographic center".

"In North-West Region there is no centralized source of transport data. And what is – are separated, inconvenient in integration and nonflexibly. Actually, the mechanism used "And + About Transproekt" is both the aggregator, and the validator of transport data. The solution is capable to transform a large number of separate data from a set of sources to the form suitable for further processing and use. For July, 2019 we conduct development of tools which will allow to process data quicker and more effectively – for the purpose of their more convenient integration at the party of the partner. Thanks to debugged technology we will be able to provide similar service of data for any region of Russia and even any corner of the world",

According to the statement of the developer, data sets include the updated data on routes of all types of city transport, suburban and long-distance buses, including all operational changes of their routes set for the term of more than a week and also operation modes of routes and their schedule. Tools allow to process the entering data on work of routes (most often incomplete) so that information on their schedules was displayed with the minimum error even in the most remote areas of the region.

For the end of July, 2019 a system contains 2045 routes of land transport, 24237 stops with their exact binding to the area. Total extent of route network is 65730 km, and roads on which axis these routes are laid, – 15987 km. Besides, the basis for inventory of interregional and regional route networks on 32 territorial subjects of the federation is prepared.

"In the modern world it is much told about "digitalization" of transport. However to speak about any "digit", the commonly accepted data sources, unification of their formats are necessary. It is not enough, and not only in the Northwest: countrywide the question of availability of transport data in nation-wide scale remains open. There is a legislation according to which they should be and be updated in free access, but so far in this direction of specific actions is not undertaken. That work which we do and that format of data in which we provide them to operators of commercial services can become one of steps according to the solution of this question",
