2019: Concealment of $1.2 million when importing 6 thousand computers
At the end of July, 2019 it became known that the Federal Customs Service of Russia makes investigation concerning expected failure to pay customs duties for import of the equipment for mining. The Russian supplier covered $1.2 million when importing more than 6 thousand computers.
It is about computers which integrate in computing powers in pools for effective solution of the computing tasks connected with production of cryptocurrency. According to the search warrant which fell into hands of journalists the Far East Commercial and Industrial Company (FECIC), did not pay the customs fees connected with import of 6,012 computers for mining. Bitmain ASIC devices are advertized as the energy saving equipment with high rates of hashing.
It is supposed that the Moscow division of DTPK did not pay customs debt on import of miners from August, 2017 to February, 2018 and also forged documents, claiming that the equipment was received from the Korean mining company MSR though DTPK had no contract with this firm. Affirms also that the company forged documents, having specified the counterfeit prices of computer systems, including of Antminer S9-13.5, L3 + and D3.
On the basis of data retrieveds occupation of premises of Intelion Mining company and 2500 miners was carried out. Considering illegality of their import and failure to pay customs fees, miners were confiscated. Intelion Mining which places miners on behalf of clients, claims that it has no relation to the confiscated equipment.
Potentially high profit connected with production of cryptocurrencies attracts persons interested to earn quickly with violation of the law. Earlier in July, 2019 the Chinese police confiscated about 4000 mining computers which worked at the electric power which was illegally taken away from local utility company.[1]
