Thanks to the use of smart electric meters, Rosseti Moscow Region saved more than 100 million rubles in the first half of 2019. This was made possible by reducing power transmission losses.
In total, during the first half of 2019, more than 5.5 thousand smart electric meters were installed, TASS reports in August 2019.
It is planned that by 2022 more than 270 thousand new smart meters will appear, which will save more than 2 billion rubles by reducing the cost of buying electricity to compensate for losses. The saved funds will be used to finance the investment program, reconstruction and modernization of power grid facilities in the capital region, which will increase the reliability of power supply to consumers.
With the introduction of intelligent metering devices, residents of the capital region will be able to control the parameters of the supplied electricity, remotely read readings, and also switch to a multi-tariff calculation. In addition, metering devices with remote data collection allow power engineers to effectively carry out measures to identify and prevent theft of electric energy and identify foci of losses, the company's press service said.
