2019: Start of service
At the beginning of September, 2019 Hitachi Construction Machinery started IoT-service which by means of artificial intelligence predicts faults of excavators before their emergence. The service ConSite OIL works at the European markets and in Japan and also will be started in China within partnership with the Chinese investment company Tencent Holdings.
In China Hitachi Construction since 2014 offers services of remote monitoring of excavator engines most of which of clients of the company uses. The service ConSite OIL complements this service with the sensors controlling engine oil and pressure fluid.
The CEO of Hitachi Construction Kotaro Hirano explained that these liquids in the construction equipment are a blood equivalent in a human body, and thanks to new sensors, a system is capable to predict faults more than half of key components.
The Hitachi parent company in 2018 announced partnership with investment holding corporation Tencent which specialize in the different fields of hi-tech business, including different Internet services. Within partnership of Hitachi and Tencent created the IoT-platform which connects all mechanisms in network of data exchange, and can be used in construction, production and other industries. Bringing service of ConSite OIL to the market, Hitachi aims to accelerate growth of subsidiary companies in China. For Tencent it is one more step for transition from the services focused on the consumer, such as social networks and digital payments, to industrial services.
According to local media, the Chinese market of excavators in 2018 grew by 40% as the government increased expenses on infrastructure for economic recovery. In 2019 the market decreased because of trade war between the USA and China a little.[1]
