2019: Jaguar Land Rover sets in the software cars for protection against cyber attacks
On September 5, 2019 announced Jaguar Land Rover the conclusion with BlackBerry of the agreement within which software for cyber security from the Canadian company will be established in new cars of the British partner.
Under the terms of cooperation, BlackBerry will also help Jaguar Land Rover to reveal potential vulnerabilities in safety systems of vehicles, including pilotless machines which are developed by carmaker.
BlackBerry will also take part in development of autonomous cars, using in them the artificial intelligence technologies and machine learning. Partners will involve the QNX operating system together with developments of Cylance company which BlackBerry purchased for $1.4 billion earlier.
It is about the first integration of QNX and Cylance. Thanks to it the Jaguar Land Rover cars will receive new mechanisms of protection against cyberthreats and the system of predictive service.
Jaguar Land Rover and BlackBerry have a common goal — to realize the most "smart" opportunities in cars. I am glad that our cooperation with BlackBerry continues to gain strength. It is the company whose technology innovations unambiguously meet the growing needs of automotive industry for security — the CEO of Jaguar Land Rover Ralf D Speth said, speaking about partnership with BlackBerry. |
Earlier between the companies the agreement under the terms of which in the information and entertaining systems and in the systems of protection in the Jaguar Land Rover cars software solutions of BlackBerry began to be used was signed.
It should be noted that after Cylance purchase the BlackBerry company started service for safe connection of pilotless cars with road infrastructure. Most likely, this product will also be used by Jaguar Land Rover.[1]
