2019: Announcement

In September, 2019 the German-Lithuanian company Jetcopter announced the air taxi with vertical take off and landing. The vehicle of the same name is equipped with centrifugal fans with rotary nozzles by means of which lifting force is created.

The rotor with spiral blades which are installed in the centrifugal fan creates the entering air flow at right angle to entering.

During the operation of such fans air is sucked in through inlet opening parallel to a rotor spin axis then disperses blades and is thrown out through an exhaust outlet perpendicular to a spin axis. The output air flow is in the centrifugal fan at right angle to entering.

The air flow from centrifugal fans creates the same reactive draft as a penalty kick the helicopter screw, developers state.

Jetcopter is supplied with engines, powerful each of which is equal to 665 hp. The aircraft is capable to gather speed to 300 km/h and to fly by about 1000 km without refueling. In salon six places for passengers are provided.

The company wants to create also the electric version of the air taxi in which instead of internal combustion engines the 250 kilowatts electric motors (about 335 hp) will be set. These motors will be powered from the li-ion cell.

For now Jetcopter began to sell the flying car with power units in which fuel ignites in the working chamber. The price of a product is $600 thousand.

However for really mass production of the air taxi of the company investments — about $60 million are necessary.

According to the founder of the company Donatas Skulskis, Jetcopter costs much cheaper, than helicopters of the similar size and airplanes of vertical take off and landing.[1]
