On September 17, 2019 it became known of construction of network of data centers in Karelia. Investment volume is estimated at 10 billion rubles.
In the Arctic districts of Karelia the Petrozavodsk State University (Petrgu) together with GS Nanotech company will be engaged in the project of creation of network of DPCs.
The project assumes the organization of a distributed network of the centers for processing and data storage on 20 thousand stoykomest in the northern regions of Karelia and also creation of production of data warehouses and creation of central node, the rector Petrgu Anatoly Voronin at a meeting of debating club on development of the Arctic in National library of Karelia reported.
Until the end of 2020 it is going to carry out works on regulating documents, to develop the design estimates, to register the joint company. During the same period construction of the plant on production of storage systems will begin. Since 2021, as expected, will begin to build central node in Petrozavodsk and DPC in northern areas. It is going to build network of data centers till 2025.
According to Voronin, by September, 2019 the Arctic resources for work of DPCs in Russia are practically not used. At the same time analysts expect that in 25 years more than a half of such capacities in the world will be concluded in the north as at the expense of climatic conditions it is possible to reduce operating expenses of data centers of value to 40%.
Anatoly Voronin says that the distributed network of DPCs created in Karelia will occupy not less than 20% of the market in Russia and about 2% of the world market of cloud services.
It will also lead to development of a number of adjacent productions in metallurgy, chemical industry, the processing productions. Project implementation will give a power pulse to creation of the market of fast cloud services, the IT companies and also to development of the digital Arctic — he said (the quote by TASS).[1] |
