MTS and DIT of Moscow tested on 5G network in Moscow solutions of smart transport

Customers: All-Russia Exhibition Centre (All-Russia Exhibition Centre, VDNH)

Product: Projects of creation of complex telecom infrastructure

Project date: 2019/03  - 2019/08

2020: MTS connected test base stations of a 5G in Moscow to a high-speed transport network

MTS announced on February 13, 2020 that the base stations of a 5G of MTS located in a permanent pilot zone of VDNH were connected to the equipment of XGS-PON which the company specially installed on the transport network. The equipment of several leading international vendors was used. Base stations irrespective of equipment manufacturer operate normally, and in 2020 pilot zone 5G will already act on the most part of the territory of VDNH. Read more here.

2019: MTS and DIT of Moscow tested on 5G network in Moscow solutions of smart transport

On September 18, 2019 the company Huawei reported that together with MTS PJSC and system integrator NVision Group with support Moscow Department of Information Technology held testing of technologies smart city in a pilot zone 5G on VDNH.

MTS showed three scenarios of use of network of fifth generation for improving road safety. Solutions are based on interaction of participants of the movement with each other and with city infrastructure. Data exchange is performed through 5G network. Thanks to data transfer rate to three gigabits per second and short delay of network, it allows to give large volumes of information in real time.

By our calculations if 80% of cars have the similar systems, the number of road accident only with pedestrians and cyclists can be cut approximately by half. We consider a 5G as a basis for creation of a complex of the solutions Smart City which will connect different elements of infrastructure of the city in a single convenient and effective network. Among the closest plans of MTS there is a development of pilotless special equipment for municipal services and different AR solutions, including for the tourism industry,
noted the vice president for regional development Igor Egorov

The main advantages of networks of fifth generation – the high speed and the minimum signal delay. For this reason possibilities of a 5G are irreplaceable in those industries where instant and complete obtaining information is important. DIT of Moscow supports telecom operators and developers who already actively test the innovative solutions in municipal economy, medicine and transport. Their implementation will help to make the capital even more comfortable and safe for citizens,

Huawei takes part in development of standard 5G since 2009 and has wide experience of start of networks of new generation. For September, 2019 Huawei has more than 50 contracts for deployment of commercial 5G networks worldwide. We actively cooperate with the Russian mobile operators and the infrastructure companies for the purpose of development of a mature and effective industry ecosystem. We are glad to act as the technical partner of MTS in this project and together to show new opportunities of a 5G and to bring closer their implementation,

Examples of Smart City technologies in the transport sphere

"Smart overtaking". The solution is directed to improvement of the overview when overtaking and allows the driver to receive on 5G network on the monitor of the car of video from the cameras mounted on other vehicles.

"Smart intersection". The solution is developed for minimization of blind zones and implemented on model of interaction between the car and city infrastructure.

"Safe pedestrian". The solution allows the pedestrian to receive a warning of the approaching car on the smartphone or augmented rReality glasses, and to cars – to exchange video from front cameras on other vehicles.
