2019: Investment of $1.5 billion into the program for developers

On September 18, 2019 Huawei announced investment of $1.5 billion into the program for developers. The company began to pay more attention to involvement of private developers after fell under sanctions of the USA.

The new budget of Huawei Developer Program for five years was announced by the vice-chairman of Huawei Ken Hu at the Huawei Connect 2019 conference in Shanghai. According to him, the company is going to add 5 million developers to the program. By September, 2019 their number makes 1.3 million. Also about 14 thousand independent software makers participate in the program started in 2015 worldwide.

As reported on the website of the Chinese producer, Huawei Developer Program provides services of development, testing, promotion and monetization of applications, relying on extensive base of mobile devices, global platforms and industry resources.

Ken Hou says that Huawei supports developers to help them to create "smart applications and solutions of new generation". At the same time the company is concentrated not only on creation of the devices and programs, but also on development of the industry in general, he emphasized.

Earlier Huawei began to give to developers full support that those placed the applications in the Huawei AppGallery directory.

Development of the program for developers became a part of broad strategy of Huawei in the field of computing solutions. Within it the company invests in basic researches around the products to promote emergence new and to improvement of the operating technologies, such as artificial intelligence. Strategy also assumes that the equipment and software of Huawei will become more available to clients and partners.

Calculations of the future are a huge market more than $2 trillion. We will invest further in it — Ken Hou said.[1]
