2019: Registration in Roszdravnadzor of the tool for a balloon kifoplastika
On September 27, 2019 the Skolkovo Foundation reported that its resident the Mediatoma company registered in Roszdravnadzor the tool for a balloon kifoplastika (chrezkozhny plastics of a bone tissue). At the end of August, 2019 the first successful transaction using the innovation method is executed.
The tool for a balloon kifoplastika developed by Mediatoma company is used in neurosurgery for treatment of compression spinal fractures. The product not only is much cheaper than foreign analogs, but also has several advantages:
- more complete recovery of anatomic features of the injured vertebra and elimination of a compression;
- reduction of time of transaction due to convenient management of the tube entered into a vertebra body, and determination in what direction to open a cylinder for obtaining result;
- impact on a vertebra in different vectors, using only one tool, by serial blowing of a cylinder and rotation of a tube for establishment of a vector of the subsequent disclosure of a cylinder.
We with confidence can tell that we created the innovation medical tool for low-invasive backbone operations at compression changes which is completely allowed for use in medical institutions in Russia. For September, 2019 we look for investments to direct all our forces to promotion of this tool at us in the country, collecting of clinical data and a feedback from surgeons. Also we hope to present the next version of the tool for a balloon kifoplastika at the world market in the near future, |
Annually about 40 thousand people in Russia suffer from compression fractures of the vertebras of various degrees of severity resulting from osteoporosis or spine injuries. The vertebra or grows together deformed, with frequent preserving of pain syndromes and the broken plasticity, or continues to collapse, bringing closer the patient to serious invasive transaction using implants and metalwork. In Russia the vertebroplastika using which the damaged area of a vertebra is filled in with bone cement is often used. In the world this technique is less and less popular as it does not recover an anatomic shape of a vertebra – apply a balloon kifoplastika more often. In Russia it was practically not used as the state quotas did not compensate the high cost of transaction. The invention of the resident of Skolkovo Foundation will allow to change this situation.
So far because of regulatory barriers the few advanced medical developments enter the Russian market. At a financial support of Skolkovo Fund the Mediatoma command managed to finish a prototype in only three years and to register a medical product. It is one and a half times cheaper than the only Korean analog presented at the Russian market. It will allow to use actively in Russia the effective technique of a balloon kifoplastika which is widely applied around the world. Using the available domestic tool thousands of patients will be operated by a modern method, noted Yulia Shcheglova, the project manager of Skolkovo Foundation
