2019: Completion of field tests of a fiber line of communication
On September 30, 2019 the Nokia company announced completion of field tests of a fiber line of communication with terabit data transfer rate on bearing (wavelength) on real fiber-optical network of an operator class of one Etisalat company.
As noted in Nokia, capacity of the channel of 1 terabits per second (Tbit / c) it is sufficient to transfer all series of "Game of Thrones" in high resolution less than in two seconds. This achievement became the result of large investments of Etisalat company into development of infrastructure of a core (CORE) of network connected with the expected rapid growth of the traffic generated by broadband services.
The field tests which are carried out by Nokia company showed that the existing Etisalat network is ready to support higher data transfer rates on optical carriers, necessary for implementation of broadband services, including broadband services on networks of mobile communication of a 5G (high-speed data transmission through wireless channels of network of mobile communication) and over the systems of wire line access implementing architecture "optical fiber to the house" (FTTH) and also implementation of services of cloud networks with ensuring high-speed interaction between centers of storage and data processings of DPC (Data center Interconnect, DCi). Higher transmission rate on one will provide to bearing (wavelength) economy of the consumed electric power and working space, simplification of networks, increase in their spectral efficiency and capacity and also cutting of costs for transfer of one data bit in comparison with use of optical links with lower capacity.
During tests capacity of DWDM of a fiber transmission system, equal 50.8 Tbit / was reached with, when using several optical links (bearing of lengths of waves), each of which provided capacity on one to bearing (wavelength), equal 1.3 Tbit / with, with sending range on network of Etisalat operator more than 93 km without regeneration of a signal in intermediate nodes of network. Making use of experience of implementation on fiber-optical networks DWDM of transfer of optical links with capacity of 100 Gbps on one optical carrier and also the technology of transfer of a terabit data stream developed by specialists Bell Labs Nokia over optical carrier (wavelength) with probabilistic formation of points of the star chart of a coherent line signal (Probabilistic Constellation Shaping, PCS), testers intellectually created probabilistic characteristics of a line optical signal, trying to obtain the greatest possible data transfer rate on a specific optical route. The digital signal processor Photonic Service Engine 3 Nokia which is switched on in structure of the equipment of Nokia 1830 supplied to customers is the processor processing coherent digital signals using PCS technology.
