Fyrtur (smart curtains)

2019: Beginning of sales

In October, 2019 IKEA there began sales of smart curtains of Kadrilj and  Fyrtur. They are equipped with the remote control for rise and lowering of a curtain. It is also possible to manage voice assistants to Amazon Alexa, Siri Apple and Google Assistant.

Owners of smart columns will be able to open in the morning of a curtain, without getting up from a bed — having just said the necessary command aloud. The same transaction can be programmed for a certain time, having tied opening of curtains to the morning alarm clock, and closing — to approach of night-time. It is possible to open/close a curtain both completely, and partially.

IKEA began sales of smart curtains with voice actuation

The mechanism allowing rolls to be deployed automatically, and the li-ion cell which can be loaded with the USB power supply going in a set is built in a level. 

Kadrilj  represents a gray cloth, and  Fyrtur  received more dense fabric and black color and completely blocks sunlight. Both models are provided in five sizes:

• 60×195 cm;
• 80×195 cm;
• 100×195 cm;
• 120×195 cm;
• 140х195 cm. 

Sales of Kadrilj and  Fyrtur were going to begin in 2019 earlier, but then date was postponed for October 1. And afterwards IKEA announced sales "is later in the fall".

Though IKEA stated support of the platform of the smart house of HomeKit in the of smart rolled curtains, it will not be implemented — at least, at first. Perhaps, this factor will push away a certain share of consumers, and those will prefer to wait for compatibility with HomeKit.

In Europe rods of Kadrilj and  Fyrtur can be purchased at the prices from 109 to 159 euros, depending on the size and type of fabric.

Both products are compatible to the system of the smart house IKEA TRÅDFRI including bulbs, brightness controls, sensors of the movement and other goods.  Support of Google Home, Amazon Alexa and HomeKit Apple in TRÅDFRI was added in 2018.^[1]
