2019: Equipment of not atomic ice breaker complex of solutions of ABB
On October 21, 2019 ABB reported that its complete solutions will provide the increased efficiency, maneuverability and reliability of work of the first not atomic ice breaker of Federal State Unitary Enterprise Atomflot which should execute difficult transactions and support of heavy-tonnage vessels in the Arctic conditions.
After successful ride tests the diesel electric port Ob ice breaker was given to the customer of Federal State Unitary Enterprise Atomflot. The vessel will work in the water area of Gulf of Ob and to provide pilotage in the port of Sabetta including vessels of the project Yamal LNG.
For accomplishment of these tasks on the vessel the electropropulsion complex of ABB from four icebreaking propeller-rudder columns Azipod with a power of 3 MW everyone ensuring effective functioning of the vessel in ice 1.5 meters thick is set. The Ob ice breaker is also equipped with a ship direct current electric power system of Onboard DC Grid, the automation system and turbocompressors of the last generation. Commissioning on the ice breaker was performed by the Russian engineers of ABB.
Four propeller-rudder columns Azipod which are in pairs located in nasal and fodder parts of the vessel provide it excellent maneuverability in comparison with the traditional propulsive systems. The ice breaker equipped with propeller-rudder columns of ABB is capable to lay a way in ices much more effectively, than the vessel with a traditional valoliniya. In case of need Ob can be developed by a stern forward and by means of the screw to mill ice fields.
The main engines of the Ob ice breaker are equipped with the two-level system of a turbo-supercharging Power2 800. It improves operation of four-stroke engines and was specially developed for their support.
The complex of technologies of ABB will allow the ice breaker to work in a special environment not only most effectively, but also saving fuel and reducing harm to the environment.
