At the end of October, 2019 it became known that L’Oréal created the lake of data in cloud infrastructure of Microsoft Azure to accelerate research and development of products.
The lake of data which was unrolled by the French producer of cosmetics and perfumery is founded on the software developed by Talend company for management and data integration (Talend Data Fabric). Thanks to this software the global division on researches and innovations L’Oréal R&I will be able to analyze the scientific and marketing information used for more effective formation of the product range.
Every year development teams represent several thousands of formulas, says L’Oréal. — These continuous improvements are result of permanent dialog between science and marketing. To bring new products to the market, R&I should collect all data relating to characteristic and physical and chemical determination of formulas and raw materials and also to perception of efficiency of products by consumers in actual practice and in real time. |
L’Oréal unrolled the Talend Data Fabric platform, capable to take various data types from different sources (from images, the robotic and laboratory systems, etc.) and to use smart API.
According to the press release, in the unrolled lake of data L’Oréal 50 million fragments of data are processed every day, and contents of this system are updated several times a day that commands researchers could get access to the most up-to-date data for product development.
Data and artificial intelligence allow us to create quicker cosmetic products which answer an infinite variety of needs for beauty and desires of consumers around the world — the head of department of work with data in L’Oréal Research Philippe Benivay noted.[1] |
