2019: Announcement
At the end of October, 2019 the Europe's first device for stimulation of a brain intended for treatment of a depression at home was provided. The noninvasive Flow tDCS device uses small electric impulses for a pereraspredleniye of activity of neurons in a front share of a brain. The headset is used together with the virtual assistant set on the smartphone.
The previous researches in the field resulted in ambiguous results. Nevertheless, two recent testing showed that activation of brain fabric using transkranialny stimulation by a direct current reduces expressiveness of symptoms of a depression. The efficiency of this method of therapy was comparable to like that at antidepressants, but transkranialny stimulation differed in smaller amount of ghost effects. Antidepressants can be alarming, fatigue, an increase of weight and nausea while the most widespread shortcomings of transkranialny stimulation were time reddening under electrodes and a slight headache.
Researchers from Flow Neuroscience created the device on the basis of this technique which is already available in the market for £399. At transkranialny stimulation the weak current for change of electric potential of neurons is used. The Flow headset sends similar impulses to the area of prefrontal cortex — that its part which participates in formation of the personality, decision making and regulation of emotions. People with a depression often have lower activity in the left part of this area and higher activity in the right part. The headset is designed to balance this activity. Users are recommended to carry the device within 30 minutes, 18 times within six weeks. Besides, the virtual assistant traces their rhythm of life and helps to balance a power supply, a dream and physical exercises.[1]
