2023: Resuming the online version, allowing readers to add their photos for money
In mid-March 2023, it became known that the American magazine Playboy resumed the release of an electronic version in a new format. Users will be able to access exclusive materials for money.
The revived Playboy magazine is reportedly similar in concept to the OnlyFans platform, a content subscription service. In the case of OnlyFans, creators of materials can make money from their fans who pay to watch posted videos and photos. The service is popular primarily in the adult entertainment industry.
Similar to OnlyFans, Playboy magazine in the new iteration will allow individual authors to charge users for access to their content. At the same time, unlike OnlyFans, the Playboy platform for authors does not allow the publication of pornographic materials.
We don't allow explicit content. We do not position the magazine as an adult platform - it is aimed at everyone, including popular content creators who share behind-the-scenes events of their lives, a Playboy spokesman said. |
The new digital magazine will feature "Playboy's most successful and promising authors in editorials, cover shoots, Playboy spreads and more." In particular, the first cover of the relaunched magazine in the form of a futuristic "platinum rabbit" captures actress and fashion model Amanda Cerny. She was previously featured on Playboy's October 2011 spread. According to reports, on the new platform for the authors of Playboy, she has already earned more than $1 million.
It is said that the release of the first full issue of the updated Playboy is scheduled for late 2023. It is possible that in the future a printed version of the magazine will appear.[1]
2020: Abandoning the paper version
In March 2020, it was announced that Playboy magazine will be published only in digital format.
