"Samson wholesale" completed implementation of the WMS system

The Samson wholesale company in Voronezh completed in 2009 automation of the distribution center based on the WMS Manhattan Associates system. The project is executed by CORUS Consulting company.

The Samson group is engaged in distribution of goods for office and school.

The project is implemented for the purpose of automation of basic processes of the distribution center of the company in Voronezh: acceptance and placement of goods, incoming inspection, replenishment of zones of selection, piece, boxed and pallet selection, placement of goods in a zone of control and a complete set, consolidation of the gathered goods according to customer orders, inventory, acceptance of returns.

The project was complicated by special topology of warehouse. It was actually necessary to automate two warehouses – "old" and "new". The "old" warehouse includes a set of the premises separated by metal gauzes that complicated work with radio-terminals, the "new" warehouse is equipped with modern racks. Warehouses are integrated by the covered gallery, at the same time a part of products assumes street storage. All these features were required to be considered in a warehouse system.

As a result of lack of address storage all processes in a warehouse depended on storekeepers therefore main objectives of implementation of the WMS system became the accuracy of accounting of contents in a cell and also increase in useful space of a warehouse due to optimal placement of goods in cells. These objectives were achieved by introduction of address storage and separation of zones of piece and boxed selection of goods. Now in the WMS system about 70 users work. The implemented solution is integrated with the ERP system of 1C Company.

According to Nikolay Petrov, the project manager from "Samson Wholesale", at all complexity of the nomenclature and topology of the warehouse WMS system allowed to implement the main requirements of the company without significant completions. A system allows to go from simple processes to more difficult, and the flexibility of presettings gives an opportunity to react flexibly to requirements of fast changing business.
