Project date: 2019/11

In November, 2019 it became known that in the Indian clinics began to use artificial intelligence of Microsoft for fast diagnosis of cervical cancer. It is the joint project of the company with SRL Diagnostics — the network of the diagnostic centers, largest in the country, which are engaged in pathological and radiological researches.

Engineers of Microsoft taught to define artificial intelligence symptoms of cancer thanks to the huge database of dab from a neck of the uterus, including anomalies and precancer examples. At the same time doctors should study attentively each sample, spending on it a lot of time.

25% from 260,000 annual cases of death of cervical cancer around the world are the share of India, annually in the country more than 67,000 women die of this disease.

At early detection development of cancer can be prevented therefore women need to see off regularly skrinig. Microsoft considers that implementation of artificial intelligence technology will accelerate the analysis of samples of dab of Papanikolau. Every year SRL Diagnostics takes more than 100 thousand on the analysis.

100 thousand cytologic dabs from which 2% are atypical and require the additional analysis. Microsoft claims that the AI technology of the company allows to conduct researches even more effectively.

Microsoft trained a neuronet to define symptoms of cancer on the basis of thousands of annotated images of cytologic dabs to help AI to reveal anomalies which require more stare.

After that doctors need to look only at the revealed problem analyses to confirm reality of premises or presence of cancer. The platform for use of AI is already ready for internal preliminary application in SRL Diagnostics. The technology already began to use in the SRL Diagnostics centers.[1]
