2019: Application launch
At the end of November, 2019 it became known of application launch, estimating food quality by means of computer vision. The program can be used for maintenance of a healthy power supply and observance of a diet. Data can be added to it, having made the picture of a plate before food.
Souchreditelnitsa and the marketing director Aurore Tran reported that the company spent a little more than two years for research and development before started the application in France. By the end of 2019 the startup attracted $1.5 million investments. Initially the application was available only in France, but later appeared in the USA, Germany, Great Britain, Spain and other countries.
The company uses deep learning for image understanding: the Foodvisor application defines a distance between a plate and the smartphone with the help of an auto focus of the camera, and then defines a type of food and estimates the content of proteins, carbohydrates, cellulose and fats according to special databases. In addition to determination of type of food, the application tries to estimate the weight of each product. In certain cases the Foodvisor application cannot define exotic food and suggests the user to edit manually the database, i.e. to keep the name of a product and its "rating of usefulness".
Many people refuse applications for power supply caloric content assessment because filling of the diary is tiresome and takes too much precious time. The Foodvisor application is designed to simplify as much as possible data entry process to provide users with exact data on the food absorbed by them. The application can be used not only to observe the principles of a healthy power supply, but also to lose weight - special functions allow to set the purpose and to monitor progress eventually.[1]
