At the end of November, 2019 the Johnson & Johnson company submitted the Symphony system for stabilization of cervicothoracic department of a backbone during surgical intervention. The device is developed in division of DePuy Synthes.

The Symphony system is intended for stabilization of a backbone at patients to whom operations on cervical department of a backbone are performed. According to developers, innovation should simplify the procedure of surgical intervention and increase efficiency of the surgeon and personnel of the operating room, providing fixing and alignment of the place of online access. This system is compatible to the navigation software that facilitates orientation of the surgeon in anatomic formations of a neck.

Doctor Christopher Ames, the director of the research program of neurospinal frustration, notes that the most interesting aspect of the Symphony system is its capability to satisfy very difficult requirements which surgeons face at surgeries on cervical department of a backbone.

The Symphony system prevents a number of the undesirable post-operational phenomena which can lead to repeated surgical intervention. Besides, according to representatives of the company, Symphony reduces quantity of the used instrumental trays from six to two. It is also one of the first systems such which is delivered together with sterilely the packed implants that can also reduce costs.

The Symphony system is based on extensive experience of DePuy Synthes in treatment of diseases of cervical department of a backbone and expands the existing portfolio of devices for spinal surgeries, - the president of DePuy Synthes Nadav Tomer noted. - We offer surgeons the device which allows to optimize the procedure and provides a set of options of treatment for difficult patients.
