Google started shop of "cloud" business applications

The Google company started online store of third-party "cloud" business applications. The new service received the name Google Apps Marketplace. With its help the company expands possibilities of business applications of Google Apps with products of third-party developers.

Using an online service of Google Apps Marketplace the Google company expects to expand functionality of the applications entering a corporate packet of Google Apps and to attract to it the bigger number of users. A system also allows to integrate applications of third-party developers with Google services of Gmail, Documents, Sites and Calendar.

To place the applications in Google online store, developers need to pay 100 dollars. Further they will receive 80% of all sold applications, and 20% of Google will keep. Already now about 50 companies take part in Google Apps Marketplace, among them there are Atlassian, Appirio, Intuit, Box.net, NetSuite, Skytap and Zoho.

Google gives an opportunity to developers independently to select how to levy a payment for the applications, namely for one downloading, for one user or on the basis of a subscription. The Google company began to offer network applications of Google Apps five years ago and now they are used by 25 million users and 2 million companies.

In further Google expects to construct an ecosystem around applications of Google Apps packet, having added to them different new features. For the corporate sector of Google Apps Marketplace will offer instruments of project management, management of tax documents and accounting, programs of the electronic fax and others. For the first time plans for start of this online store of "cloud" business applications it was announced in February, 2010.

Among the reasons for which Google offers users of Google Apps of the application of third-party developers, lower cost of "cloud" applications in comparison with the "traditional" software intended for installation on the PC. Besides, in Google recognized that developments of the company are not able to meet requirements of all users of service. Therefore Google began to involve third-party producers who already developed software, demanded at clients of Google Apps.

Of further Google she intends to convince business users to use "cloud" applications instead of the "desktop" systems. For this purpose the company needs to offer corporate clients those functions which are supported by the "traditional" software now.
