Philips implements in the equipment artificial intelligence for recognition of a prostate cancer

2019: Promotion of developments on the basis of artificial intelligence for recognition of a prostate cancer

At the beginning of December, 2019 Philips announced that it began to implement the technology of detection of a prostate cancer on the basis of AI developed by Paige AI startup in the equipment.

The Paige AI technology on the basis of AI is aimed at helping pathologists to identify, to quantitatively estimate and characterize oncological changes in samples of fabrics. Eventually, solution AI should increase the accuracy of diagnostics and optimize treatment of patients. Paige AI showed promising results, and the companies are ready to begin implementation of such technologies in daily clinical practice.

The artificial intelligence is capable to recognize a prostate cancer at an early stage

The Paige AI technology was developed on the basis of Memorialngo's data of the oncological center of Sloan of Kettering and was entitled in March, 2019 Break of Year among medical devices. According to the license agreement signed in 2018 with the oncological center, the company received the digitized results of inspections of different patients who allowed it to develop the tool on the basis of AI for detection of cancer.

The CEO of Paige AI Leo Grady said in March, 2019 that the company does not intend to be satisfied with what has already been achieved - the technology for detection of a prostate cancer should become the launch pad for development of diagnostic aids of other oncological diseases.

Philips implemented Paige AI technology in the Philips IntelliSite Pathology Solution device in 2017 within the De Novo project. This device is the system of visualization with functions of the digital slide analysis of surgical pathology. Philips stated that it will begin sale of devices with Paige AI technology in 2020. It is expected that a startup of Paige AI and Philips will continue cooperation.^[1]
