Staff of Apple takes the free genetic tests estimating risks of cancer and cardiac diseases

In the middle of December, 2019 it became known that the staff of Apple got access to free genetic tests which allow to estimate risk of development of cancer and heart diseases. Services are provided by the AC Wellness company created in 2018 to provide services of primary medical care only to the staff of Apple. The pilot project was started by AC Wellness in Color Genomics cooperation.

The idea of the project consists in transferring medical care in Apple clinics from reactive on pro-active. As genetic tests can give an idea of risks for health in the future, in certain cases patients can take preventive measures to reduce disease probability.

Besides, though AC Wellness technically is separate company, medical experts believe that it helps Apple to test new products or the ideas, without risking information leak. Therefore partnership of the company with Color Genomics can testify to more large-scale plans of Apple.

The Color test allows to analyze gene mutations which are authentically connected with risk of development of cancer and cardiovascular diseases. The Color Genomics company does not sell the test directly to consumers, unlike the competitors of Ancestry and 23andMe. Doctors of AC Wellness can appoint this genetichseky test only to the staff of Apple and members of their families. On the basis of the received results doctors hold the subsequent consultations. Color Genomics allows doctors to nazanchat full testing or a research of separate parts of a genome, depending on the anamnesis of the patient.^[1]
