2019: Development of a "solar" catamaran of Nova
On December 18, 2019 the Hevel company announced that the forwarding headquarters of Fyodor Konyukhov will undertake the single transitions first in the history Atlantic and Tikhy of oceans on a "solar" catamaran of NOVA. Route extent within the first stage of an expedition will be about 3,000 nautical miles, and approximate transit time – 25 days.
According to the request of the headquarters of the world famous Russian traveler the catamaran should cover this distance on electric draft, using solar energy. For this purpose on upper and side parts of swimming means highly effective solar modules will be installed. Special cells on a flexible substrate will be made in St. Petersburg in Hevela Scientific and technological center.
The task of scientists is in making cells steady against aggressive water environment, an ultraviolet light, with the lowest specific weight.
The unique catamaran is projected by the British designer Phil Morrison who designed all three rowboats of Fyodor Konyukhov earlier (Ural Automobile Plant, Turgoyak and AKROS). The English shipyard of Rannoch Adventure will be engaged in construction of the vessel.
On the Catamaran of NOVA the measuring devices writing indications of operation of solar modules and onboard accumulators will be installed. Data retrieveds will be transferred to technology partners of the project and also used in the "Albatross — Round the World on Energy of the Sun" project.
In transitions Fyodor Konyukhov will keep the video diary and to carry out environmental monitoring of the ocean, daily noting existence or lack of plastic waste in sea water.
The Russian technologies and the accumulated experience allow to implement the most courageous projects on water and in air. One of key values of similar cooperation for us as producer consists in working off of effective solar solutions in the most difficult conditions for their subsequent mass implementation.
