2019: Start in Los Angeles

At the end of 2019 Hyundai Motor started carsharing service MoceanLab in Los Angeles, and at the beginning of the 2020th the company announced expansion of its vehicle fleet.

In November, 2019 within the pilot program Hyundai created MoceanLab subsidiary company which offers services of car-sharing using 15 hybrid electric vehicles Ioniq. According to representatives of the company, in the future the South Korean car maker is going to place on the parking in Los Angeles about 300 electric vehicles Ioniq.

Besides, Mocean Lab already combined efforts with business association on car rental for creation of a new ecosystem. Mocean Lab is going to provide to the companies which are engaged in car rental, hi-tech IoT-devices and the integrated management system for the leased car under the name Mocean Smart Solution. This system is intended for operators of business on lease of cars and allows to be connected easily to cars of the company to check their location, the general passable distance and many other data.

Hyundai intends to become the supplier of intelligent mobile solutions to take the leading position in automotive industry. Among others plans the company intends to start service of "ridesharing" — use of unmanned vehicles by different users and also the project of multimodal transportations using different types of land and air transport.

The executive vice president of Hyundai Motor Group Chung Euisun said that till 2025 the company invests more than $85.7 billion in development of new network of services to ensure the strong place in the market of the future. In 2028 in Los Angeles there will take place the Olympic Games, and by this time Hyundai Motor expects to relieve significantly traffic and to increase service quality.[1]
