2020: Announcement

At the beginning of 2020 Samsung Electronics provided the solid state drive with the built-in fingerprint scanner. The range of the South Korean producer was filled up by the T7 Touch model.

The dactyloscopic sensor is used for secure access to the data which are stored on the device. The system of protection also includes enciphering of information on an algorithm of AES (256 bits) and a possibility of installation of the password.

USB interface 3.2 of Gen 2 with capacity to 10 Gbps is used to connection to the computer in SSD. The stated speed of reading information is 1050 MB/s, writing rate — 1000 MB/s.

For achievement of maximum speed of reading/record of the device and connection cables should support the USB 3.2 standard of Gen 2, the UASP mode also should be included.

Affirms that the drive works approximately twice quicker, than his predecessor — T5 model. Moreover, the device can reach maximum speed when using the NVMe interface, the press release says.

Samsung T7 Touch is equipped with the LED Motion LED indicator which allows the user to define a device status instantly. The three-year guarantee from the producer extends to SSD.

Dimensions of a product make 85 × 57 × 8.0 mm, weight — 58 grams. The all-metal (aluminum) body can have black or silvery color. The device is compatible with operating systems Windows, iOS and Android. Samsung T7 Touch was awarded Innovation Awards CES 2020 awards.

The drive will be on sale in versions on 500 Gbytes, 1 and 2 Tbyte at the prices of $ $ $130, 230 and 400 respectively. Sales will begin at the end of January, 2020. In Russia Samsung intends to tell about product availability later.

It is expected that after release of T7 Touch, in the second quarter 2020 the portable drive SSD T7 will be provided. Its price by January 9 is not set.^[1]
