In the middle of January, 2020 Amazon India announced the beginning of expansion of the park of delivery systems to 10,000 electric vehicles. After successful start of pilot projects in several Indian cities the company could provide scalable and long-term options of expansion of number of express machines.
Using electric vehicles, Amazon aims to reduce emissions of a carbon dioxide gas in the atmosphere. The park from 10,000 electric vehicles will include three-wheeled and four-wheel vehicles which were developed and made in India. In 2020 these cars will begin work in more than 20 cities of India. Amazon India cooperates with several Indian producers to provide steady and safe deliveries of orders. Progress in the Indian industry of electric vehicles allowed Amazon to use advanced technologies and high-quality parts.
Start of electric vehicles — one more step reducing dependence of Amazon on non-renewable resources. In September, 2019 the company announced the intention to expel disposable plastic from the centers of production Amazon India by June, 2020, including within other initiatives of reduction of waste from packaging. Amazon India also invested means in acquisition of the devices using solar energy for the sorting centers.
Became Amazon the first company which signed the Agreement on protection of climate according to which all enterprises of the company should pass to carbon-free power sources by 2040 i.e. a decade earlier than requires the Parisian agreement. It is supposed that the companies which signed this Agreement should stimulate investments into development of low-carbon products and services. Within the arrangement of Amazon promised to enter into the vehicle fleet 10,000 electric vehicles by 2022 and 100,000 cars by 2030.[1]
