2020: Recognition of fault in DDoS attacks

At the end of January, 2020 Tucker Preston, the founder and the previous owner of the BackConnect company developing technologies for providing information security was recognized in court that he employed hackers for carrying out DDoS attacks., As reported on the website BackConnect, the company develops technologies which technologies are "the new industry standard in fight against DDoS attacks".

The considered DDoS attacks originally were revealed by KrebsOnSecurity company. Cyber security specialists received the list of clients of vDOS - at that time the hacker group, most popular in the world, which was carrying out DDoS attacks to order. Tucker Preston who then was 19 years old appeared in this list of clients.

Cracking of the website vDos created a furor — thanks to KrebsOnSecurity founders of vDOS were arrested, prisoners is later in the Israeli prison. Also the list of clients which became the main proof from charge had not smaller value. According to the acquired information, Preston used vDOS account for the order of DDoS attacks for a number of the companies, including Free Software Foundation. FSF, non-profit organization, considered the possibility of cooperation with BackConnect. It is supposed that Preston initiated DDoS attack after FSF refused to run business with his company.

The unnamed company from New Jersey which ran business in several states became one more subject to the hacker attack directed by Preston. It is known that in December, 2015 Tucker Preston paid hacker grouping for participation in DDoS attacks on this company which, presumably, competed with its own.

Preston is threatened up to 10 years of imprisonment also by a penalty up to $250,000. A trial date is set for May, 2020.[1]
