2020: Application launch
At the end of February, 2020 Facebook announced that it begins to pay some users for voice records which will be used for improvement of a sensing technology of the speech. Facebook took this step after the company, on an equal basis with Amazon, Apple, Google and Microsoft, was caught on listening and interpretation of voice records without informing clients.
Facebook will allow clients to make voice entries within the new program under the name Pronunciations in the application for a market research. According to rules which were put forward by the company, only those users from the USA which is more senior than 18 years will be able to participate. At the same time users should have more than 75 friends on Facebook. If the client corresponds to criteria of participation, he should write 10 voice messages with a phrase "Hey, Portal" which the name of the friend follows from the list of friends. Each phrase needs to be said twice.
However Facebook will not pay for records directly. For each record set 200 points in the Viewpoints application will be charged, and to cash money it will turn out, only when on the account there will be not less than 1000 points. It is equal to a reward of $5 which can be received through PayPal. Nevertheless, Facebook claims that to users suggest to make up to five sets of records therefore to achieve the goal in 1000 points and it is possible to receive payment after all.
Facebook reports that voice records which are provided by users will not be connected to a profile of Facebook and that the company does not intend to share data retrieveds with other services belonging to Facebook without the permission of clients. Facebook also noted that the program will be gradually started therefore it is still available not to all users.[1]
