Providing Danube metro station with mobile communication
Tele2, the alternative mobile operator, announced on November 26, 2020 that he provided a complete covering with mobile communication 2G, 3G and 4G of the station of the St. Petersburg Danube subway.
Earlier at the station anybody of operators had no communication. Now communication is available in the territory of a lobby, escalators and the platform. The equipment of Tele2 is also equipped with MIMO 2x2 technology which allows to improve penetrations of a signal and data transfer rate. Thanks to it owners of relevant models of smartphones can use the mobile Internet at the highest speeds.
Tele2 company acted as the chief builder of the distributed antenna system (Disctributed Antennas Systems, DAS) at the Dunayskaya station. Development of a communications infrastructure in the subway on purpose mobile operators often perform cost optimizations jointly. Further a system on Danube will become a core infrastructure for construction of networks of mobile communication of other operators of St. Petersburg. The DAS technology will allow to provide high quality of services in the conditions of difficult architecture, low capacity of walls and overlappings.
In turn, in the nearest future Tele2 will provide communication and the high-speed mobile Internet at the neighboring metro station "Slava Avenue" and improvement of quality of network at the Shushary station thanks to DAS systems at these stations of other telecom operators.
Agreement on construction of telecommunication infrastructure
On March 2, 2020 Tele2 reported that they together with PJSC VimpelCom (Beeline) and PJSC MTS signed the agreement on construction of infrastructure in stages of the St. Petersburg subway. This interoperator project will allow to provide passengers with a voice communication and the high-speed mobile Internet on all transit.
At an initial stage operators separated among themselves zones of works. Tele2 implements the project on the 3rd (Running – Seaside) and 5th Line, Beeline – on 1st and 3rd Line (Vasileostrovskaya – Rybatskoye), MTS – on 2nd and 4th Line. Operators already have a communication in lobbies of the subway and on platforms of stations, and the agreement will allow to provide subscribers of all three operators with a steady signal also throughout the stretches between stations.
The St. Petersburg Metropolitan is an object with the deepest in the world for February, 2020 (up to 86 m) and with the most extended stages (up to 3 km). The St. Petersburg subway is five lines with a total length of 124 kilometers, 72 stations, 83 lobbies.
Construction is conducted according to uniform technical specifications on all frequency range 4G/3G/2G and provides access for each of operators to the fragment of network which is already constructed by one of agreement parties.
For deployment of network an ADAS system which will allow to provide the highest quality of services in the conditions of difficult architecture, low capacity of walls and overlappings, the high motion speed of rolling stocks is selected from tunnels. Technical solution is optimal for operational elimination of accidents, upgrades and signal multiplications that will increase quality of the rendered services and speed of carrying out any works on service of underground network.
Operators implement the project with different vendors, approximate date of termination of the project – 2021.
Tele2 in 2015 became the operator who provided access to the mobile Internet 4G in all lobbies and on platforms of stations of the St. Petersburg subway, caring for the subscribers. Now we take one more important step for rendering qualitative and uninterrupted communication services on such important and demanded at Petersburgers type of transport as the subway, noted Sergey Sergeyev, the technical director of the macroregion "Northwest" of Tele2
