MTS and Skoltech started laboratory of artificial intelligence

On March 2, 2020 MTS announced start of laboratory of artificial intelligence at the Skolkovo institute of science and technologies (Skoltech). This project is directed to creation of new algorithms for recognition and understanding of texts that will allow the telecommunication operator to improve product quality and services, such as virtual assistants.

Experts in the field of computational linguistics and machine learning from MTS and Skoltech will focus on development of models for improvement of work of the dialogue systems, quality of recognition and understanding of sense of texts.

MTS starting laboratories of artificial intelligence at the Skolkovo institute

At the first stage workers, masters and graduate students of Skoltech who will work together with experts from MTS will become the staff of laboratory. In the future MTS can involve third-party experts also. The laboratory will allow to study and develop new approaches in the field of natural languag processing and also to quickly test new foreign developments in this sphere.

The created joint laboratory will give an additional impulse to development of the NLP direction (Natural Language Processing) of our center and will allow to approve quickly developed world-class technologies and the innovative solutions on the platform of one of leaders of hi-tech business of Russia — the associate director of the CDISE center (the center for scientific and engineering computing technologies for tasks with data bulks) Skoltech  Dmitry Matsnev said.

In MTS as the operator notes, the division of la of implementing solutions based on artificial intelligence works. It complements the existing MTS services with the new features based on technologies of natural languag processing, recognition of a voice and computer vision and creates products in the field of customer service, medicine, law and other directions.[1]
