On Kola MMC the production laboratory information system is implemented

2020: Implementation of the Laboratory information system

On March 5, 2020 Norilsk Nickel reported that in the control analytical center (CAC) of Kola MMC (affiliated enterprise Norilsk Nickel MMC) the production laboratory information system (LIMS) is put into commercial operation. It will allow to automate productive activity of KATs, as much as possible to reduce dates of receipt and information processing, to increase its reliability and also to accelerate and facilitate work of laboratory assistants.

The LIMS system supports a full stroke of process management of quality control: from registration of a sample from the moment of selection of test before reporting based on its tests.

We can record tests in electronic form, without entry in magazines now. A system provides formation and printing of final documents: protocols of analyses, notifications. As a result we increase reliability, efficiency, quality of carrying out the analysis, noted the deputy chief of KATs on analytics the chief of testing laboratory Elena Stasenko

Also a System allows to integrate products quality data into a common information space of the Kola MMC. The automated system "Balance of metals" which allows to manage productive activity effectively will become the main receiver of information: keep track of balance of content of metals both in the extracted ore, and at stages of its enrichment, metal production, finished product output.

Implementation of LIMS - an important stage of sale of the Production management block of the Technology Break program. At us the Balance of Metals system is already let into the companies in work, production dispatching system prepares for tests. All complex of programs allows us to achieve main objectives which are set before the Technology Break program. This increase in accuracy of the information, and the most important - increase in accuracy and speed of acceptance of management decisions, emphasized the head of department of automation of technology processes and industrial complexes of management of automation of the Kola Dmitry Sannikov MMC

This project based on the solution STARLIMS B^[1] was implemented in a short time - less, than in a year. As a result of implementation of LIMS centralization of collecting and storage of all information on activity of laboratories and its confidentiality, information transfer about quality of raw materials in the adjacent MES systems is provided, the level of control of work of KATs is increased. Due to decrease in number of manual transactions labor productivity increased and the quantity of the errors connected with a human factor was reduced.

Minimization of manual work does not mean what will not remain to employees where to apply the knowledge and experience. Automation of routine transactions allows to exclude on the one hand the errors connected with a human factor, and with another to focus on more intellectual tasks that is not less important for production development, than implementation of digital technologies, noted the director of automation and information transformation of production of Norilsk Nickel and the technical director of the Technology Break program Vladimir Trapezin
