2020: Arrest on a charge of creation of the platform for hacker online stores

On March 10, 2020 it became known of arrest of Kirill Firsov which, according to FBI, stands behind the Deer.io platform intended for creation of online stores. This service is popular among hackers who use platforms for sale of stolen user data and other illegal content.

According to the edition ZDNet, Firsova was delayed at the airport of John Kennedy in New York on March 7, 2020. Concerning the suspect criminal case according to which materials Deer.io was almost completely used in cybercriminal objectives was opened. At the same time creators of the project claim that the platform acts as a hosting only for legitimate business.

FBI stated that on the Deer.io platform the shops selling access to the hacked accounts, servers and personal data of users (social security numbers, dates of births, physical addresses) are placed.

According to the American law enforcement agencies, Firsov was completely informed on illegality of the actions as the suspect regularly advertized Deer.io at underground forums. Affirms that Firsov directs and manages the platform from the moment of its start in October, 2013.

Earlier specialists of Digital Shadows company published the detailed report in which they accused the Russian platform for creation of the websites Deer.io that cybercriminals whereas the company closes eyes to it actively use their on-line shops.

Researchers claim that they detected shops which should work in the Darknet rather on Deer.io though rules of the platform prohibit sale of narcotic substances, programs, devices and scripts for any kinds of cracking, all connected with a karderstvo and financial frauds, DDoS-services and so on.[1]
