Kodd Edgar Franck is the British scientist, the founder of the theory of relational databases. Was born on August 23, 1923 - died on April 18, 2003. The main part of scientific achievements of Franck was reached by it during operation in IBM company. The cycle of works, regarding optimization and the DBMS organization was written to scientists and also the set of rules which in an effect received the name of 12 rules of Kodd is created. Edgar Kodd introduced the term OLAP into circulation.
Interesting Facts
- Kodd considered misimplementation of own theory SQL popular today. As the majority of solutions of IBM in which then Kodd worked were based on this language, work of the scientist in the company was a little difficult. As a result Kodd made the heavy decision for himself to leave IBM.
