2020: Announcement of a 5G of Messages
On April 9, 2020 it became known that in China the technology of message exchange of a 5G Messages using possibilities of cellular networks of fifth generation is developed. Three largest mobile operators of China – China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom work on it, and it is positioned as replacement of SMS technology.
According to the Gizchina resource, support of a 5G of Messages will be implemented in all devices capable to work in networks of fifth generation over time. One of its main differences from the service SMS offered by most of telecom operators in the world including is Russian a total absence of restrictions for length of the transferred messages. The SMS technology implemented in 1989 and which appeared in Russia in 2000 allows to transfer in one message of 140 characters written by Latin and 70 characters on Cyrillics.
In addition to the absent restriction for length of text messages of a 5G Messages will allow to exchange also media content, thereby having replaced with itself not only the SMS, but also MMS and partly all modern messengers. For example, with its help it will be possible to transfer images, audiomessages and records and also videos, documents, etc. Among functions there will be a transmission of messages online and without connection to the Internet and also storage of history of correspondence.
The instrument of enciphering of the transmitted data for an exception of a possibility of its interception will be a part of a 5G of Messages. For April, 2020 it is not known what algorithms will be used, and the user will be able to decode the received message by input of the classical text or graphic password.
A certain method of interaction of the user with the computer also will be added to the listed opportunities of a 5G of Messages, however about it developers did not begin to disclose details. According to Gizchina, it will be connected, including, with online payments.
China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom told about the development within the online conference in which the largest Chinese IT companies which are engaged in production of smartphones participated.
Large-scale testing of a 5G of Messages in the territory of the People's Republic of China is previously planned for April 10, 2020. It will be carried out by Huawei company. The first test of a system to the announcement was carried out by ZTE company together with China Mobile operator. It passed in the Chinese city of Hangzhou (not to confuse with Guangzhou), and in system operation GSMA UP2.4 standard was used.
According to forecasts of developers of technology and conferees, deployment of a 5G of Messages in China will begin in June, 2020. Terms of emergence of technology in other countries of the world where networks of fifth generation are already under construction, at the time of the publication of material were not set[1].
RCS (Rich Communication Services)
RCS (Rich Communication Services) is a data exchange protocol between cellular operators and also between operators and devices, developed by GSM association in 2008. Unlike obsolete the SMS – for the first time that was tested in 1992 – RCS allows not only to exchange separate messages, but also to conduct chats on two and more users, to exchange files and content, to make audio-and video calls, to exchange location-based data, to send audiomessages, to keep the black list.
