Rosatom creates in the atom city in Sverdlovsk region a "smart" water utility

Beginning of creation of "smart water utility"

JSC Rusatom Infrastrukturnye resheniya (RIR, is included into ROSATOM State Corporation) announced on July 28, 2020 the beginning of reconstruction of a water supply system in Lesnoy to Sverdlovsk region. Works are performed under the terms of the concessionary agreement signed at the end of 2018 between the city and OTEK (the former name RIR). Earlier design was executed, a part of works already underwent state examination and the project passed into a physical stage.

A concessionaire of a water utility of Lesnoy is RIR-Lesnoy LLC, the RIR subsidiary company. Under the terms of the concessionary agreement concerning a water supply system and water disposal, the company it is necessary to replace 20.5 kilometers of a water supply system and networks of water disposal of the city district. It will increase reliability of water supply of inhabitants and will create infrastructure for further development of the city. Also reconstruction of pumping filtration plant, the main source of water supply, and sewer treatment facilities will be carried out. As a result quality water will be guaranteed to inhabitants, the Lesnoy's ecology and nearby settlements and also the Tura River will improve. The total amount of investments is 720 million rubles.

We selected the contractor who already got permission to carrying out earthwork, approved places of arrangement of ditches, warehousings of building materials and the equipment not to break a usual rhythm of the city. Builders mounted installation for trenchless laying of pipes. At first they will replace section of a water supply system which lasts along Ordzhonikidze Street and on Kommunistichesky Avenue, then will update communications near Dorozhny Drive and will start construction of the self-flowing collecting pipe on Kommunistichesky Avenue, – the chief engineer of RIR-Lesnoy LLC Alexander Mikhalev tells.

In a work progress technologies and materials which allow to change pipes in a short time, with the minimum excavation and damages of asphalt and city infrastructure are applied.

We use polymeric pipes which life makes 25 years. It means that from replacement before replacement of a pipe there will pass quarter of the century, in any case, the producer gives such guarantee. At polyethylene pipes there are a lot of advantages: unlike steel, they have much a smaller weight that facilitates and accelerates their installation. To polyethylene pipes, unlike pig-iron, corrosion is not terrible, they are eco-friendly and completely inert to water: do not select toxic and harmful substances, – Alexander Mikhalev explains.

Also in Lesnoy digital solutions in the field of management of utilities are implemented. "The smart water utility" – the automation system and digitalizations of production and sales processes which implementation is also provided by the agreement will help manage water supply and water disposal to lesnichana. For example, work of digital dispatching office will reduce losses of water in networks due to identification of zones with the maximum losses, quick search of places of leaks and their elimination, monitoring of deviations of losses in water supply zones. Process automation of planning, accounting and execution of orders will help to distribute effectively requests between contractors, to receive data on the actual consumption by the subscriber of services of water supply.
