STARLIMS Laboratory information system

The laboratory information system STARLIMS is the multifunction technology focused on increase in efficiency of processes of quality control at the enterprises of any industries, the test centers and research laboratories. LIMS STARLIMS allows to manage using software tools processes of quality control of products, and also to provide and confirm fulfillment of requirements to competence of testing laboratories.

Architecture of STARLIMS

The architecture of STARLIMS uses the standard features inherent in web, with the scaled and expanded application of web viewing on client side and "farms" of a database server. Interaction between the client and the server is performed by means of standard technology web service of messages through the hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP). As the alternative, for increase in security, can be used the protected HTTP (HTTPS).

To use all available possibilities of processing and to consider considerable user experience, STARLIMS subdivides the code defining functioning of a system, into so-called ‘business logic the code‘ (which is performed on server side) and the ‘the code of the interface’ (processed by the.NET elements on the web client). Predictable response time and positive user experience are result.

For the purpose of increase in number of users the STARLIMS servers completely use technical resources, dynamically creating processes which jointly process business logic requests. The distributed architecture of a system is continuously traced by the balancing server which analyzes loading and directs a task to the optimal server.

The client of STARLIMS represents the normal web browser containing.NET controls which are dynamically providing the user interface. Controls of STARLIMS XFD Renderer Controls are automatically loaded on the client computer when the new version is released.

In addition to classical graphic controls (tags, buttons, text boxes), this technology supports more difficult elements of management, such as hierarchical data tables, tabs and blocks of the choice. For the components working with data special transactions for linking of the graphical interface with the data model which is located on the server are used. For increase in protection the scripting code of client side is started in the isolated environment, and the code of business logic of server side separates from client side.

The system of execution STARLIMS XFD Renderer uses computing opportunities of the local machine that gives as a result reduction of loading of the server and network.
