Rosatom sterilized 245 thousand medical transport systems

On May 12, 2020 it became known that the Rosatom state corporation continues sterilization of medical products for fight against a coronavirus. As of morning 17,230,063 pieces of protective masks (plus 1,657,660 for May 8-10) and also 245,000 pieces of the medical transport systems used for testing for presence of COVID-19 virus on May 11 are sterilized (the value did not change). Start of sterilization of the medical transport systems for tests for a coronavirus

On April 16, 2020 Zdrav.Expert it became known that Sterion JSC (the affiliated enterprise of state corporation "Rosatom", is included into a guidance loop Rusatom Healthcare of JSC) within implementation of the contract with the company "GEM" started sterilization medical transport of systems necessary for testings for presence of a virus COVID-19.

Sterilization represents impact of a bunch of the accelerated electrons on the processed products loaded on the special pipeline. This technology allows not to unpack products which are earlier packed by producers into a cardboard transport container. Besides, after processing of products a flow of the accelerated electrons, products become suitable for use at once. Here, unlike other methods of sterilization, decontamination or other additional actions, before the actual use is not required.

For April 16, 2020 more than 20 thousand medical transport systems are sterilized already. According to the CEO of JSC Rusatom Healthcare (integrator of Rosatom state corporation in the field of radiation technologies in medicine and the industry) Aleksandra Shibanova, by the end of April, 2020 the volume of the processed transport systems will be 150 thousand.

In May we are going to come already to 300 thousand — he added.

The medical transport systems are intended for selection of biological tests and their transportation to the venue of diagnostics using in the vitro methods. The product represents the sterile set including the test tube with the transport environment for viruses (including COVID-19) which is hermetically corked by a screw cap and also the probe tampon for test selection. The HAM company is the Russia's first producer of the transport systems with Wednesday for viruses.

Besides, based on JSC Sterion the sterilization of medical masks continues. For April 16, 2020 it is sterilized already about 1.5 million units^[1].
