2020: Development of service of smart monitoring of empty parking spaces
The young scientist of the Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) created service which allows to monitor parking spaces and to find empty seats for cars in real time. On April 20, 2020 reported about it in TPU.
"Search of the free parking is often connected with a considerable waste of time. Besides, incorrectly parked cars can lead to emergence of the conflicts and road accident. "Smart" infrastructure of the cities develops, but the problem of parkings is still not solved", 'Ali Ozdiyev, the developer of service, the junior researcher of the international scientific and educational laboratory of non-destructive testing noted' |
Smart Parking Occupation Tracking is based on operation of the device consisting of the video camera directed to parking space and a single-board microcomputer — the peculiar AI sensor analyzing a video flow. Algorithms using methods of machine learning are developed for the sensor by scientific TPU.
"The device — original development with use as ready free software, such and own practices. The video flow which is transferred by the camera is processed using machine learning technologies. A system is able to distinguish cars, analyzing the image regarding number of the taken and empty seats. In the long term, for example, it is possible to teach to define an algorithm cars which stand not by rules, take two parking spaces at once. All this occurs in real time", 'Ali Ozdiyev, the developer of service, the junior researcher of the international scientific and educational laboratory of non-destructive testing explained' |
According to Ali Ozdiyev, for April, 2020 the device is already ready and tested on the example of the parking on Karpov St. in Tomsk. Besides, the demonstration version of a system is integrated with cards 2GIS. It is possible to watch the changes happening on the test parking on the website. Empty seats on the parking are displayed by green markers, and occupied — red.
"Web service is adapted for use on the smartphone. In the first tests I used the webcam, however many parkings are equipped with video surveillance therefore for operation of a system it is optional to change the equipment", 'Ali Ozdiyev, the developer of service, the junior researcher of the international scientific and educational laboratory of non-destructive testing emphasized' |
Improvement of parking spaces between the body of the Tomsk Polytechnic University on Lenin Ave. could become interesting check for SPOT, according to the developer. It is the central region of Tomsk so to find the free parking there can be difficult.
"Machine learning and computer vision — perspective technologies which are capable to solve huge layer of the tasks and problems existing in the modern world. Therefore the project is open for proposals of potential partners and investors", 'Ali Ozdiyev, the developer of service, the junior researcher of the international scientific and educational laboratory of non-destructive testing noted' |
