2020: Representation of technology for face recognition in a protective mask

On April 20, 2020 the research laboratory VinAI Research entering into Vingroup group announced results of testing of own sensing technology of persons which allows to identify with a stable accuracy the person even in a protective mask.

According to the developer, the VinAI system uses the model of deep machine learning developed by experts of the Research institute of VinOptima. The technology adapts to take information, necessary for user identification, on available — i.e. not closed by a protective mask — to points. It agrees to the data obtained during testing, in this situation the VinAI system much more precisely than other technologies. Its advantage consists in the developed identification algorithm.

At the same time, as noted in Vingroup, the system of recognition VinAI is suitable for the broadest spectrum of devices, including budget: for effective work with it there is enough information from normal cameras while other sensing technologies involve infrared sensors and sensors of depth. It is planned that the VinAI technology will be the most budget and without problems it is integrated into any existing systems of cameras including those that are used for authentication of employees and a time recording at the enterprises and at offices.

The VinAI company also sees use of the technology and after a pandemic, masks and respirators were always a part of an obligatory uniform for workers of a set of productions, in medical institutions and also were actively used in life for protection against dust and a smog. VinAI Research actively cooperates with producer of an electronic equipment VinSmart concerning installation of technology on smartphones Vsmart that will increase comfort of users when using a sensing technology of persons.

According to Vingroup the updated sensing technology of persons from VinAI will become available to commercial products of one of first-ever. However, considering a critical situation with COVID-19 epidemic, the company is ready to provide the development to partners on a grant basis as a contribution to the general fight against a pandemic.
