2020: The announcement of the endoscopic Evis X1 system helping to treat intestines cancer

At the end of April, 2020 Olympus submitted the new endoscopic Evis X1 system. It, according to the producer, should provide the best diagnosis of diseases of a gullet, stomach and a thick gut and also can be used at different diseases of bronchial tubes. A system is equipped with the simple and convenient devices allowing to reveal, characterize and treat disorders of digestive tract, for example a colorectal cancer.

A system provides the increased depth of field (EDOF), the red dichromatic image (RDI), the image with the improved texture and color (TXI) and the narrow-band image (NBI).

Olympus submitted the new endoscopic Evis X1 system

The EDOF tool in Evis X1 integrates two images with different focal distance for descriptive reasons. The RDI tool improves visibility of deeply lying blood vessels and sources of bleeding of digestive tract and is used for search of blood vessels which can demand the emergency therapy. The TXI technology improves texture, brightness and color of the image, allowing to define more precisely subtle differences in fabrics. The Olympus NBI tool was used also in other systems of endoscopy: it creates the expressed contrast between vessels and a surrounding mucous membrane using waves which length matches the blue and green color.

Olympus stated that it is also going to implement artificial intelligence in future updates of Evis X1.

Early identification and diagnostics are crucial for prevention of a colorectal cancer — professor of National research institute of oncology in Warsaw Michal Kaminski noted. — Among new Evis X1 technologies the TXI tool looks especially perspective. It provides to the endoscopist the large volume of information, but at the same time the image saves the type close to natural. It will allow to adapt to it easily.[1]
