MTS started in a cloud the digital platform for Segezha Group

2020: Start of the digital platform of management

On March 27, 2020 PJSC MTS announced project implementation on deployment and start of the digital platform of management on the basis of SAP solutions for Segezha Group, one of the Russian vertically integrated timber industry holdings with a full stroke of logging and deep processing of wood. The provider provided an infrastructure basis of the project and started the digital platform in CloudMTC cloud.

The digital platform of management will become a digital core of the company, having replaced more than 100 production and the Segezha Group managerial systems. The platform is placed in the private cloud created in data center of MTS - Avantage. The provider implemented a number of stages on preparation of IT infrastructure and implementation of technical basis of the platform that allowed to start a complex of the systems of SAP in a cloud. Further the provider will perform administration of cloud infrastructure and support of work of the systems of SAP.

Reliability and the continuity of work of systems is provided with high fault tolerance of infrastructure: placement of the equipment in own data center certified according to the Tier-III standard, use of communication channels of MTS and backup of all systems and databases. For backup the independent equipment on the main and territorially remote platforms is used that provides high data availability.

One of key stages of the project on creation of the digital platform of management of Segezha Group is implemented. The next, final stage, will be connected with internal settings of systems, their adaptations under the specific objectives and specific processes characteristic of our business. Implementation of such platform as SAP S/4HANA will allow us to transform qualitatively the company — to create a digital core of group which will merge several tens of production assets. Partnership with MTS regarding cloud computing allowed us to accelerate significantly implementation processes, provided a possibility of flexible scalability of a system in the future thanks to a cloud consumption pattern of IT resources, noted Pavel Vakhnin, the vice president for information technologies and process automation of Segezha Group

The project with Segezha Group is a striking example of how clouds become a business digitalization basis, allowing to implement difficult complete solutions quicker. We provided infrastructure and technology bases of the project, having started in a cloud the digital platform of management on the basis of SAP solutions. In this project we implemented all the experience and the saved-up examination. Further we will continue cooperation, providing operation and maintenance of infrastructure of the project both the level of a cloud platform, and the systems of SAP, commented the director of cloud business of MTS Oleg Motovilov

In addition to cloud computing, Segezha Group also uses telecom services and to communication channels of MTS, there is a number of the implemented projects on system integration.

Start of the project on implementation of the digital platform it was announced in July, 2019. Transformation will integrate four enterprises for production of paper, packaging, plywood and timber and also five sections of logging. Among the expected effects – improvement of accuracy of planning and execution of production plans, reduction of equipment downtimes and warehouse stocks, optimization of transportation costs.
