2020: Announcement of InfiniBox CSI

On April 28, 2020 years Infinidat announced a release of the Container Storage Interface (CSI) driver for Kubernetes and other containers compatible to the Cloud Native Computing Foundation environments. The InfiniBox CSI driver helps users of reliable and fast storage systems of InfiniBox to manage DWH on the container platforms supporting the CSI standard. The release of the InfiniBox CSI driver is caused by requests of clients for introduction of automation and usability of InfiniBox in work of DevOps and shows invariable commitment of Infinidat to an ecosystem of Kubernetes that is confirmed with a recent research of GigaOm Radar for Kubernetes data storage.

According to the company, storage becomes a critical problem in process of growth of distribution of containers and requirements of customers for increase in scale, flexibility and standardization. Container Storage Interface (CSI) is a standard for orchestration of transactions of a layer of management in file and block storages.

Among key functions there are InfiniBox CSI drivers:

• deployment of hundreds of thousands of permanent volumes on InfiniBox;
• management of permanent volumes with support of the NFS protocols, iSCSI or Fibre Channel;
• management of several InfiniBox systems in one cluster of Kubernetes;
• management of instant pictures and clones of InfiniBox, including recovery from pictures;
• cloning, expansion and management of the permanent volumes created out of the CSI Infinidat driver.

Showing support of Infinidat of crucial projects with Kubernetes, the CSI InfiniBox driver was completely certified for the main commercial Kubernetes distribution kits — Red Hat OpenShift VMware Tanzu the Container Platform and Kubernetes Grid Integrated Edition platforms. Customers can get access to the Infinidat Operator driver for InfiniBox CSI through Red Hat Ecosystem Catalog that simplifies deployment in the environments focused on Red Hat, and users of other platforms of Kubernetes can execute deployment using tables of Helm. The InfiniBox CSI driver is also placed in VMware Solutions Exchange.

Since the end of 2019 we see growth of popularity of our service "Containers as service" based on Kubernetes.
