RefaceAI (before Neocortext)

RefaceAI is the Ukrainian software developer for substitution of persons on video, photos and animation. Such artificial intelligence is implemented in  the Doublicat application which by the end of April, 2020 was downloaded by more than 900 thousand times.

The RefaceAI company was founded by Roman Mogilny, Oles Petriv and Yaroslav Boyko in 2011, then it was called Neocortext. At first the command was engaged in machine learning, including work with semantics of the text and visual content.

History

2020: Investment attraction

At the end of April, 2020 RefaceAI announced closing of an investment round. The company did not call either the volume of investments, or names of investors.

According to the AIN.ua edition, the Adventures Lab company invested in about $300-500 thousand. These means a startup are going to be spent for improvement of products, a personnel increase and search of new sources of income.

RefaceAI claims that unlike other applications for replacement of persons, in Doublicat CGI or 3D-modeling is not used. The technology is based only on artificial intelligence, the method of machine learning of GAN (Generative Adversary Networks) is its cornerstone.

The startup cooperates with the different companies from show business, cinema, advertizing. For example, their technology was used in "film selfie" in the Multiplex application: there it was possible to create the photos in an image of heroes of "Lord of the Rings", Harry Potter, Terminator, etc.

The office RefaceAI is in Kiev. By the end of April, 2020 in the company about 40 people from whom most part, according to in a startup, are recognized experts in the field of machine learning work.

Business potential of developments of RefaceAI leaves far beyond the fan of a segment and B2C of audience. Applications of the company, like Doublicat, can be considered only the small demoversion of opportunities of a command — the managing partner of Adventures Lab Andrey Krivorchuk said.[1]
