2020: Release of the program
On April 28, 2020 Canon released the software of EOS Webcam Utility which allows to use some cameras EOS with interchangeable lens and "soap trays" of Powershot as webcams.
EOS Webcam Utility requires existence at least one USB- the connector for connection of the camera to the computer with the operating system Microsoft Windows. Support of other operating systems it is not stated.
As soon as the software is loaded and set, and the camera is configured in the application for a video conferencing, the user will be able to get to work, told in the company. If the camera has no regular connectivity through the USB interface, it will be required to purchase the adapter.
The solution is compatible to 17 EOS SLR cameras (including EOS 5D Mark IV, EOS 6D Mark II, EOS 7D Mark II, EOS 77D, EOS 80D EOS 90D, EOS Rebel T6, EOS Rebel T7, EOS Rebel T100), 5 "bezzerkalka" with interchangeable lens (EOS M6 Mark II EOS M50, EOS M200 EOS R, EOS RP) and three compact cameras (PowerShot G5X Mark II, PowerShot G7X Mark III and PowerShot SX70 HS).
As declared in Canon, the new application — by the end of April, 2020 in the beta — will allow "receive the clearness and a high image quality when using popular solutions for a video conferencing".
