2020: Start of sales of smart points which take the body temperature of people at distance

At the beginning of May, 2020 sales of smart Rokid T1 glasses which take the body temperature of people at distance to 3 meters began. The device is available to acquisition to everyone in China whereas before the producer delivered such products only to state institutions.

New points should help the user to avoid COVID-19 infection. They are equipped with the processor of Qualcomm, the infrared sensor and the 12-megapixel camera which allows to estimate temperature of surrounding people. The company already sold more than one thousand pairs to the government, the enterprises and schools of China.

The vice president of Rokid Xiang Wenjie explained that T1 provides remote and fast check of temperature that it can be useful during a pandemic. He also noted that the company works on updating of points which will allow to take temperature to four people at the same time. Such function will allow to use the device to monitoring of sick people in shopping centers and the airports. In general T1 glasses can read out temperature up to 200 people within 2 minutes from distance slightly less than 3 meters.

The company has office in San Francisco and already works on transactions on glasses sale to law enforcement agencies, hospitals and the enterprises in the USA. Legislators and regulators of the USA suspect all Chinese companies of espionage on behalf of the communistic government therefore the director of Rokid in the USA Liang Guan emphasized that data of points do not go to cloud storages, and are processed locally:

As for this module, we do not transfer data to a cloud. Confidentiality is very important for our clients, and we respect their wishes. Measurement and data processing are carried out only on places.[1]
