2020: Start of the platform
On May 13, 2020 VimpelCom announced start of the platform for data exchange between farmers and beekeepers to prevent mass death of bees. A new system received the name "Save Bees" from the telecommunication operator.
The platform designed to adjust information exchange between farmers and beekeepers is provided free of charge to everyone. It will automatically warn beekeepers about processing of the next fields pesticides.
VimpelCom undertook all expenses on ensuring communication between the parties, to improvement of the platform taking into account the appeared requirements and future development of a question, including in terms of regulatory requirements.
For connection to the platform it is necessary to be registered and mark on the map apiaries and fields. Further the farmer specifies date and time of planned processing of fields, and the beekeeper in turn receives the SMS notification if its apiary is in radius of 7 km from the processed field.
Experience of the beekeepers earlier affected by death of bees shows that it is reasonable to make such notification at least in 3 days prior to the planned processing of fields. It will allow to take timely the measures necessary for reduction of risk of poisoning of bees with pesticides. For example, to transport beehives to the safe place. Registration and informing on processing of fields will be voluntary.
It is noted that the information platform "Save Bees" is founded on synthesis of experience of interaction of beekeepers and farmers in a number of regions of Russia.
VimpelCom is also going to start the targeted communication campaign directed to representatives of agricultural business and owners of apiaries.
The program of support of work of the platform from the company is expected not less than 3 years. Further the operator intends to transfer control of a resource to concerned parties among which there can be also a state.[1]
