At the beginning of May, 2020 it became known that LG Group takes part in development of the platform based on a blockchain intended for functioning and protection against the hacker attacks of self-propelled vehicles and their systems. The cost of the contract is 1 billion Korean wons (about $817 million).
The principle of work will consist in verification of digital identifiers of self-propelled cars at data exchange. And as the platform will be is the cornerstone by a blockchain, protection will have the decentralized character.
Autonomous cars communicate with each other and with other systems of city infrastructure, including the systems of regulation of traffic and command center. If they do not have proper protection, malefactors will be able easily to crack cars and to arrange accidents which can lead to the victims. In process of market development of self-propelled vehicles requirement available of adequate protection will arise sooner or later, participants of the consortium which is responsible for development of the platform claim.
In addition to LG CNS — divisions of LG Group which is engaged in information technologies — were included into consortium the producer of the autonomous Unmanned Solution cars, the cybersecurity developer of solutions RaonSecure and group of "white hackers" Raon WhiteHat. All this South Korean organizations.
Head the project the Ministry of sciences, information and communication technologies of South Korea and the Agency of South Korea concerning information protection and regulation of the Internet.
Testing of the platform is going to begin in 2021. It will take place in the Korean city of Sedzhon. Opened in 2012 it is intended for placement of the ministries and other official organizations and also is used as the platform for start of pilot projects of the "smart" city.[1]
