Raiffeisenbank strengthened protection of a corporate wireless network using Cisco ISE

On May 19, 2020 it became known that Raiffeisenbank completed a final stage of implementation programmatically-equipment room the platform Cisco ISE (Cisco Identity Services Engine). The platform provides safe connection to corporate environment through hardwired and wireless connection at office and also through VPN- the client at to remote work employees.

Net surfing of Wi-fi is integrated to a set of risks because of vulnerability of connection. However only wireless connection provides sufficient mobility of employees and allows to use portable devices for work. At the same time flexible approach to the choice of technical equipment and arrangement of a workplace – one of key requirements of new generation of specialists of the digital directions on whom the technology companies stake.

A quarter of employees of Raiffeisenbank – specialists of the digital directions who prefer work on mobile devices stationary to computers. The number of the devices connected to corporate network Wi-fi increases, and these connections require additional protection. The wireless network providing protection and control at the level of a data transmission medium, unrolled using virtual servers Cisco ISE is designed to provide it.

Raiffeisenbank uses complex approach to security, and protection of network access – one of crucial elements of architecture of the systems providing it. Safety requirement of a data transmission medium especially relevant at development of wireless technologies, it was also reached at implementation of the Cisco ISE platform of integration it with the available means of protecting, – Denis Kamzeev, the head of department of information security of Raiffeisenbank reported

Thus we managed to increase safety of many business processes significantly. Including it allowed to accelerate processing of service requests from users for 25% and to reduce costs for maintenance of IT infrastructure of offices, – Roman Murashkin, the chief of the department of development of IT technologies and user support of Raiffeisenbank noted

As a result of implementation of Cisco ISE in bank a convenient and safe environment for work on any devices at office and also for remote work on the authorized devices is created. Including thanks to it more than a half of employees of the bank could pass to work from the house from the corporate or personal computer during self-isolation.

Due to integration of Cisco ISE into firewalls and segmentation of network traffic of any device connected to Wi-Fi is under control. Cisco ISE interacts with network equipment, collects information and the politician of authentication and authorization will authorize all connection attempts to corporate network and, on a basis, provides or does not provide access.

At remote connection the VPN client checks compliance of the computer to a number of criteria on the basis of what Cisco ISE makes access decision to corporate network.
